Blazing Heart heard the sound, and his blood instantly chilled. Which was a strange concept, since he knew that his body temperature was at a steady 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. But it did not stop how he felt, that his veins had turned to ice. Without thought, he raced towards the front of the cell, unaware that the door was open, his concern for Pippa was so great. Immediately after a strange sound from the doctor's apprentice, Pippa called for him.
A long, painful second passed as he stared at the open door, the knowledge that they hadn't come for him after opening it dawning on him at a languid speed. As soon as the knowledge had sunk home, however, he bolted from the cell, stopping only to retrieve a key from the writhing Luke. It would have to be the right key, else he would be unable to get Pippa out.
Thankfully, it was. Whether it was a master key for all the cells, or just luck, Blazing Heart didn't know. Nor did he particularly care. Dropping the key, he swung the door open and grabbed a hold of the small girl's upper arm, puling her after him as he darted away from the group of men who would have him dissected. They seemed to be stunned, only shouting out to them and pursuing after they had rounded the first corner.
As Blazing Heart took random passages, he glanced to Pippa. He was probably hurting her with his grip, and that upset him. Without breaking stride, he lowered his hand until it was clasping hers, making a sudden left into another corridor.
"Pippa, where are we going? What is the purpose of fleeing, if there is no means of escape for us?" And she'd have to come with him, he was sure. How would these barbaric creatures deal with one of their own attacking them? Blazing Heart wasn't sure, but he wasn't going to find out after they had her open on a table to do unspeakable things. Just the very thought of her punishment made his heart contract painfully, and he took a sudden right.
Unfortunately, he had found a dead end. Well, sort of. There were no additional tunnels to travel through, but at the end of the tunnel there was a small indentation that could hide two people and raise minimal suspicion. Without a second thought, Blazing Heart pushed Pippa into the small alcove and went in after her, the need to hide removing any option of allowing her personal space.
Looking down at her small, gentle frame, he tried to control his breathing. With his free hand, he raised a shaky index finger up to his lips, the human gesture for silence.

Everything in her life had went from slow, mundane work to something so fast-paced, Pippa's brain could only half process everything by the time that Blazing Heart grabbed her arm roughly and started running with her. Earlier that day she had just been willing to help, anything to get out into the fresh air and roam around, scavenging for supplies in old trucks, and something simple like that. Ever since she ran into Blazing Heart, her world turned upside down. However, her inner being did not feel that it was threatening at all. In fact, it was as if the Soul touched her own soul. And it scared her. Throughout her life, Pippa had never felt that way before. She did not do romance. When boys hit on her, she'd smile politely, and just go on her merry way. Most people thought she liked girls, and that was not her thing, it was just that romance was not her thing. However, when Blazing Heart looked at her with a concerned look, then grabbed her hand, Pippa felt her heart throb. She was looked at him in a daze, watching his figure as he pulled her. She knew his body did not belong to him, but that didn't matter. Nothing mattered until she snapped out of it as he twisted and turned. Pippa took in her surroundings, familiarizing herself with their location as they ended up at a dead end. And Pippa could hear people searching for them.
After they were hidden in the alcove, Pippa peeked into Blazing Heart's eyes with her own honey ones while he placed a finger on her mouth. As she was sitting close to him, barely any room for them to breathe as they heard the whispers of humans nearby, Pippa began to blush ,realizing that she was without pants. Looking down at her grimy self, Pippa felt embarrassed that she was not the prettiest human, and definitely at the moment, not the cleanliest. She felt obligated to apologize, and she did, as she mumbled a small apology to Blaze with a look down at her half naked body, so he'd get the point. Pippa, however, did press close to Blaze as her mouth pressed in his chest, catching a whiff of him as she tried to slow down, and quiet, her breathing. She rested her head on his chest as she thought of the layout, before pulling back to look at him. Leaning in, Pippa had her lips almost completely on Blaze's ear, as she whispered, " I know a way out.." softly in his ear. As the sound grew louder, Pippa noted that they were in the next hallway over, standing in a large room full of the food supplies. Which meant large boxes everywhere, and lots of hiding spots. Makes sense why they'd look here.. Thinking it through, Pippa realized that there was an exit right around the corner, if they ran past the food supplies room. It was more worth than potentially getting caught in a tiny alcove with no way to run away. " Trust me ", Pippa whispered to Blaze, before leaning in and placing a gentle kiss on his nose. " In case we're caught..", Pippa murmured before kissing Blaze gently, before widening her eyes. What did you just do?! Gesturing for Blazing Heart to slip out of the alcove, she followed suit and grabbed his hand. And then they ran, fast and quiet, past the food supplies room, even as they heard the shouts of alarm as they started being chased. Pippa had them turn a corner, and kicked open the door that lead to a pathway up. Around was the forest, and Pippa ran to a nearby truck, an older model, that had tons of supplies packed in it for a planned trip. Turning on the car(all the cars always had keys in the ignition), Pippa placed it in drive as the two got settled. And then she drove- even though she had never drove in her life. After a bumpy and somewhat scary ride, they ended up miles away near a lake. Pippa parked the car and slipped out, rummaging through the bags in the back of the truck and finding a dress. In her current dirty clothes, Pippa slipped into the lake, enjoying the fresh feeling of the lake as she slipped off her clothes once her body was submerged. Then she dipped her head under and let the water engulf her before popping up again. " Come on in Blaze! ", she said, with a hint of a laugh. She needed a desperate distraction before they got down to the business of what the hell they were about to do. Blazing Heart felt his pulse pick up, his heart start pounding against his chest as though it were attempting to break free. He had never fully understood the human attraction with kissing. It did not help procreate and seemed to do little more than express deep affection for someone. But there were other ways to express deep affection that served to further the species. So why kiss?
Now he completely understood. As he followed Pippa, his mind kept turning over the innocent kiss she'd placed on his nose. She hadn't even kissed his lips, as he was used to seeing humans do to one another. Still, even without the full-fledged sign of affection, his entire body reacted in strange ways that confused him. Nowhere in the classes on assimilating into human bodies did they ever discuss the sort of reactions that could happen with something that was so simple. The only thing to distract him from his thoughts and confusion was the burst of light as soon as they were outside. He got into the car after Pippa, barely managing to get the door closed before she turned on the car and began to drive away. He had always been told that wild humans were distrusting of others, and it seemed contradictory to leave the keys in the vehicle, if they were always expecting the worst from one another. But the bumpy and painful ride pulled him away from that thought, and towards the fact that this was probably Pippa's first time driving. He could tell by the way she jerked the steering wheel left and right that she wasn't used to vehicles and how responsive they were to slight movements of the wheel. Warily, Blazing Heart watched Pippa drive, more focused on being able to grab the wheel and intervene in case of a bad turn, instead of where they were driving. The jerky stop seemed to kickstart Blazing Heart's lungs, and he exhaled in relief. Pippa was out of the vehicle fast enough, heading towards the sound of water as Blazing Heart slowly managed to push open the door and get onto his feet. That was the worst car ride of his life, and if Pippa was to ever drive again, he'd likely just walk... Or offer to drive. He had only been a human for a year, perhaps more, and he felt that he was in more control of a vehicle than the woman who had been born a human. Slowly, he followed her path towards the lake, frowning in confusion as he noted the various pieces of clothing that were discarded. For a moment, he worried that she had caught herself on fire, and had ripped off the clothes in her haste to escape the flames. But the sight of the dress near the lake and Pippa's bare form concealed beneath the water's surface brought him to another conclusion. She wanted a bath. Blaze approached the lake, sitting on the rock near Pippa's dress as he watched her. She truly was a beautiful creature, her mannerisms making her seem more like a Soul than Blazing Heart was. Leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, Blazing Heart raised an eyebrow. "I would join you, but I do believe that it is... improper for a male and female to be undressed together unless they are in a couple... Is that incorrect?" Perhaps they were a couple, as she had kissed his nose in a display of affection usually reserved for couples. Still, Blazing Heart had spent all of his many lives being reckless. Pippa was the one person that he felt the need to go slow with, to ensure that he did not scare her away or offend her. For the first time since he had begun to go to the various occupied planets, Blazing Heart understood why Souls were so mild all the time. They were, perhaps like him, scared of driving others away from them. |

When Blazing Heart spoke that embarrassing, albeit gentleman-like sentence, Pippa felt her pale cheeks flame up from embarrassment. Did she really sound like she was interested in something sexual? That was not the tone that she was trying to imply, and if Blazing Heart thought she was something of a slut, it'd make manners worse. She wanted Blaze to think the best of her, and certainly a slut is not the best. "I..I didn't mean it as that..", Pippa mumbled, growing more red by the second as she dipped lower in the water, the water covering her mouth and her nose partially. She ducked down again, relishing the feeling of the water before coming up again. " I thought you would like a bath! ", and with that, she went towards the shore, with her body remaining under the water so Blaze would not see her womanly parts, and she splashed towards Blazing Heart, the water droplets hitting him plenty of times. After a little teasing and taunting, Pippa went back to deeper in the water, her toes digging into the ground beneath the lake. With her hands, she rubbed rough along her face and arms, as well as her torso and other areas, to try and scrub away any dirt and grime that seemed to get stuck in her skin permanently. Around Blaze, she wanted to look her best, even though she just met the Soul. What had she gotten herself into over the course of a day?
After Pippa was done, she yelled out to Blazing Heart, " Turn around! ", before she stepped out of the water and grabbed her new found dress. Pulling her wet hair out from the neckline, Pippa tugged down the hem as she glanced down at herself. It was a white dress, with red polka dots, the empire line hugged her in all the right ways as she smoothed down any wrinkles. The hem reached down to her knees. It fit quite nicely, though Pippa felt odd in it. Never in her life had she had such luxury clothing, and yet they were in her community's storage the entire time? What else were they hiding? Biting her lip nervously, Pippa blinked her honey colored eyes as she spoke gently, almost as if her words were caressing Blazing Heart, " How do I look? " --- Hours later, Pippa was sitting in the passenger seat of the car, watching each landmass of rock pass by. Each one seemed to get prettier by the second, with little rivers sectioning off pieces of land. She never belonged in the community where there was none of this. In fact, the community was where NO ONE belonged. Glancing over at Blazing Heart, who was wearing clothes they found in his size and was driving, she put her hand on his thigh momentarily and squeezed in. " It'll be okay..", she said reassuringly, as the corner of her mouth curled up in a small grin before glancing out again. However, the grin was quickly diminished from her face as she noticed a barricade of people ahead. They were looking to loot. Pippa quickly muttered, " Blaze! ", before the group ambushed, the cocky leader, a 30 something girl with mousy brown hair and a big attitude stepped next to Blaze's window. " Well 'ello, Sweetheart. Where do you think you two are heading? " Add me on: Skype: lexie.wilterdink Facebook: www.facebook.com/wilterdink Xbox: goldrush8 or HufflepuffKitty Playstation Network: GeekandGeekette |

The Cherry Blossom |
Blazing Heart watched as Pippa's cheeks became flush with blood, and his head tilted to the side, making him appear as a bewildered dog. Was he wrong in his assumption? Or had she not realized what her words might entail? Her reaction definitely meant that she hadn't intentionally tried to pull an unclothed man in the water with her. But, based off of how she managed to keep her form covered by the water, Blazing Heart was rather sure that he had been right, but that she had not thought through the situation before speaking.
"I do appreciate your offer, Pippa, but I must respectfully decline. I would not want to put you in a worse position than you are currently in." And, as she requested him to turn away, Blazing Heart did so. He stared at the trees ahead of him, trying his best to focus on something mundane - such as the type of tree they might be - instead of the dressing female behind him. Even though he knew it was wrong, a part of him wished to turn around and see if her entire body was truly as beautiful as the parts he had already seen. But she had requested him to give her privacy, and so he would do so. Even from his strange and unsettling thoughts. As he turned around to view her in the dress, Blazing Heart felt his lower jaw begin to unhinge. Determined not to look like a gaping fish, he clenched his jaw, nodding in a quick, jerky motion. She was far too much for him. Strange, since he had never before had any interest in communing with a native of a planet - least of all, a wild human. Especially since they were all supposed to be savage beasts. Well, that was true. All but Pippa, at least. She was more gentle than he was, and he was supposed to be the mind-mannered Soul. After several long moments of trying to recollect his scattered thoughts, and trying to tell his mouth how to properly function, Blazing Heart managed to say, "You are... Human words cannot describe how you look." And it was true, Blazing Heart's sincerity showing in the way he tried - and failed - to dampen his blush. 'I swear, if you even think of contaminating someone as sweet as Pippa, I will ruin you. I don't care if it kills me. I will see you and I both dead, body-snatcher, before I allow you to ruin the life of another human." The foreign thought quickly snapped Blazing Heart back to reality, and he turned on his heel, heading towards the vehicle with no thoughts other than the vulgar words that Damien thought towards him. --- Blazing Heart drove at a steady speed, just as other Souls were inclined to do. Truth be told, he wanted nothing more than to speed away from the human colony, and from Damien's constant string of hatred-filled words. But he was unable to get away from the human within his mind. And driving too fast would raise suspicions among other Souls. With a human in the passenger's seat, it was safest to drive as fast as he'd be expected to. Not that he didn't hate every agonizing minute of having to tolerate Damien's thoughts. Blaze managed to pull away from his thoughts just in time to hear Pippa's panicked whisper, and he slammed on the breaks to avoid hitting the barricade that he hadn't even noticed. As he halted, his mind began to swim into overdrive. These were wild humans. With guns. And he was their biggest enemy, wrapped up in the body of one of them. His only hope would be to hope that his eyes did not gain their silver ring in the light, as they always did with Soul-inhabited humans. 'Yeah. There's no hope.' Looking quickly to Pippa, Blazing Heart tried to manage an apology for failing her, his head turned against the woman who had approached his window. Just as his mouth opened, a strange detachment took over him. Without his consent, his head snapped around at the voice, his mouth turned up in a smile, and he began to speak to the woman. "Big Beth! How are you? How is your group of people doing?" The words were Blazing Heart's voice, but he wasn't in control. Rather than have himself able to halt the speach, he found himself watching and hearing the entire situation from a distance. Not that it stopped him from fighting the strange detachment with any less effort. 'Fuck off, thief. This is my body, and I will speak to old friends without you taking over. Besides, this buys us time before she realizes that my eyes glow like some freaky night-light.' |

Pippa felt a twinge of pride when she saw how Blaze looked at her in the 'borrowed' dress, her sides swishing lightly from side to side so that the skirt of the dress filled out around her more, a smile on her small lips. The sleeves were a bit too big for Pippa's thin, twig-like arms, but otherwise, it was enough to make Blaze gape and that's all that mattered to the young girl anyways. Pippa felt a little like the classic Romeo and Juliet. They met each other not that long ago, and yet feelings were blooming and Pippa felt emotionally attached to the Soul. She would be heart-broken if he was to ever leave her. And yet, weren't they doomed like the two young teenagers from the classic? Pippa was sure that if they were caught, that they were to be doomed. Especially Blazing Heart. And she would try her damn hardest to make sure that Blazing Heart was never hurt. So as Pippa stood in front of him, for that one single solitary moment, with her in the dress, Pippa pretended that they were two normal adults, with a normal relationship, and that there were no people after their blood. It was relaxing.
And then those soft, simple words that he muttered with a flush to his face tugged at Pippa's heartstrings, causing a light blush to creep across her pale cheeks. Before she was even able to murmur a thank you, Blazing Heart was on his way to the car, as if he suddenly got possessed by someone else. That was weird.., Pippa thought, before quickly following the Soul. --- All of a sudden, Blazing Heart spoke to 'Big Beth', a smile on his face as he made eye contact with her. Pippa winced, knowing that their fate was doomed. But how was he doing this? The way the man talked, acted, and presented himself was nothing like the Soul that she knew. In fact, it kind of sounded like..." Dimitri...", Pippa murmured, before her honey eyes widened as Big Beth continued rambling onto Blaze. " ..and I'm like, C'MON MAN. I mean no one's coming this way! We got to loot or something near Mackey's, y'know? But Christ, newbies and shit can't handle that. So I got to go along with them on my hip, and we've been out here for a...W..wait a second. Why are your eyes like that Dim? ", Big Beth started, a menacing tone added to her once delightful voice. Her hand twitched and Pippa noted that quickly. " Oh fuck! ", Pippa cried out, sounding a little bit silly in her feminine voice. She quickly snaked her leg over, pressing on the gas pedal as she shifted gears, the car squealing with resistance as the car jolted forward just as Big Beth shot at them, as well as her companions. They managed to hit a tire, sending the car reeling around, but it was minimum damage, allowing them to drive for a little while longer. After getting out of Big Beth's site, Pippa yelled at Blazing Heart to get out, only grabbing two light bags, and gesturing Blaze to do the same, as they ran. Pippa's body ached, and her eyes drooped with exhaustion, as she ran down into the trees, her body getting cut up by twigs and branches as she ran her limit, before collapsing in an opening. Her body refused to move. She was tired, pushed past her limit, and emotionally exhausted. Pippa's eyes quickly closed to rest, not opening up, even for the sound of Blazing Heart.
